Poetry and Quotes

" The Eagle "

An eagle spreads his wings wide,

And with a red rose he flies.

High into the sky he soars,

Full of strength and so much more.

Faith and freedom, courage too,

These are things he brings to you.

The rose he grasps stands for love,

And beauty sent from above.

When you see an eagle, it is true,

A sense of peace comes over you.

" Spring "

Spring will be coming soon,

There is warmth in the air.

The flowers will start to bloom,

Trees will no longer be bare.

Birds and bees will be about,

Children will come out to play.

Enjoying each day, no doubt,

Before the warmth goes away.

Making shapes out of clouds,

For their moms. picking flowers.

Sometimes thunder crashes loud,

And the rain pours down for hours.

Then for awhile, the beauty goes away,

Until the sun shines again the next day.

" Roses "

We all know the beauty of a rose,

The softness of its petals...

The power it beholds.

They can brighten any room,

Set a girl's face aglow...

Such beauty in the light of the moon.

The many shades mean different things,

Friendship, love, passion, hope...

What happiness a little rose brings.

If someone's been blue for awhile,

Feeling down and out , or ill...

Give a rose and watch her smile.

Or for no reason whatsoever,

Just to show you care...

The petals she can save forever...

Always to bring a memory,

Of a good time or lasting love...

Roses do so many things, you see .

Next time you meet the troubles the world imposes,

Make sure to take the time to smell the roses.

" Fall "

The smell of fall is in the air,

Wisps of wind blow my hair.

The air is cold on my face,

Leaves are falling all over the place.

Changing color for all to see,

Rustling every time the wind breathes.

What scenery the fall does make,

But soon winter will take it's place.

Bitter cold will fill the air,

And all the trees will be bare.

Enjoy each season while it's here,

For how quickly the next one appears.

" SOUL MATES "

Man does not measure the Stars,

it is a gift

He cannot count.

So it is with my Love for you

How can I tell you of my Love?

Strong as the Eagle, Soft as a Dove,

Patient as the Pine tree that stands

in the Sun and Whisper to the Wind

"You are the One"

If I Knew

If I knew it would be the last time

That I'd see you fall asleep,

I would tuck you in more tightly

and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time

that I see you walk out the door,

I would give you a hug and kiss

and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time

I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,

I would video tape each action and word,

so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,

I could spare an extra minute

to stop and say "I love you,"

instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time

I would be there to share your day,

well I'm sure you'll have so many more,

so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow

to make up for an oversight,

and we always get a second chance

to make everything just right.

There will always be another day

to say "I love you," and certainly there's

another chance to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,

and today is all I get,

I'd like to say how much I love you

and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,

young or old alike,

And today may be the last chance

you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,

why not do it today?

For if tomorrow never comes,

you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time

for a smile, a hug, or a kiss

and you were too busy to grant someone,

what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,

and whisper in their ear,

Tell them how much you love them

and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"

"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."

And if tomorrow never comes,

you'll have no regrets about today.

My daughter Kelly's favorite quotes:

Reach for the stars and someday you will get there!!

Why is life sometimes so easy that you can cruise through in a convertible but yet sometimes so hard you can't get through even in a bulldozer?

My favorite quotes:

Keep your head up and cast your dreams to the stars . . . . . !

Your friend is someone who knows ALL about you, and still likes you!

Someone, somewhere, thinks of your smile,

And while doing this, thinks life is worthwhile.

So when you are lonely, remember it's true,

Someone, somewhere, is thinking of you!!

It hurts to love someone and not be loved in return, but what is more painful is to love someone,

and never find the courage to let that person know how you feel.

Can you go back in time

To a place in your mind

To the one who knew a part of you

That you could just not find?

If you asked me to choose

Between a memory or two

When it's said and done

I'd take the one

Whose love I had to lose...

The past is smoke, when necessary, blow it away!

The stars are the forget-me-nots of the angels.....

Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts......

Never expect anything, and you will never be let down.

~ Favorite Native American Quotes ~

The Great Spirit is in all things, He is in the air we breathe.

The Great Spirit is our father, but the earth is our Mother.

She nourishes us, that which we put into the ground,

She returns to us...........!

"All things are connected, like the blood that unites us,

We did not weave the web of life, we are it.

Whatever we do to the web we do to ourselves."

 ~ Chief Sealth ~

"What is life? It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath

of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across

the grass and loses itself in the sunset."

Eagle Chief (Letakos-Lesa) Pawnee

Grandfather Creator gathered all of creation and said, "I want to hide

something from people until they are ready for it. It is the realization

that they create their own reality."

Eagle said, "Give it to me, I will take it to the moon."

Creator said, "No - one day they will go there and find it."

Salmon said, "I will hide it on the bottom of the ocean."

"No, they will go there too," said Creator.

Buffalo said, "I will bury it on the great plains."

Grandfather Creator said, "Buffalo, they will cut into the skin of the earth

and find it."

Then Grandmother Mole, who lives in the breast of Mother Earth, and who has

no physical eyes but sees in other ways, said, "Put it inside them."

And Creator said, "It is done."

" Calling To The Four Sacred Winds "

" I call to the East, where the Father ascends

to all Mother Earth where life begins.

I fly through the cedars, pines, willows, and

birch as animals below me wander and search.

I call to the South, to the land down below.

Turtle stands silent, as man strings his bow

to hunt food and fur for his kin before snow.

A life will end so others will grow.

I call to the North, that yansa once knew.

I follow their path til it disappears from view.

Once vast in number, there stand but a few.

I hear only ghost thunder of millions of hooves.

I call to the West, to the ends of the lands,

to the Tsalagi, Kiowa, Comanche ... all bands.

Unite for the strength. Teach the young and demand

that you are Native Americans: Learn your tongue and stand.

My name is Freedom... I fly through this land and

I call to the Four Sacred Winds...."
